Please ensure that all current service packs and patches are installed and that the operating system CD is available for installation.

 Remote access 

SmartTrade Office can be accessed remotely over the internet via laptops with wireless data cards or via PCs . Requirements are:

• Terminal Services access for the number of users using SmartTrade Office remotely at the same time.
• An internet connection with adequate band width for the number of concurrent users.
• A fixed IP address is preferable but not essential. Please confirm this with your ISP, particularly if your internet connection is via cable.

Firewalls, virus checkers, internet security programs etc.

These programs can slow down software applications such as SmartTrade, and in extreme cases block data transfers. We use reasonable efforts to ensure that SmartTrade performs to an acceptable level with these programs, but cannot guarantee that it will do so in all cases.

SmartTrade Mobile®

SmartTrade Mobile® runs on Windows Mobile touch screen devices with:

• Processor: Intel X-Scale CPU 400Mhz, Qualcomm® MSM7200^TM, 400MHz or faster
• 64MB RAM (30Mb available program)
• 128MB ROM (10Mb available storage memory)
• Operating system:  Windows Mobile 5.0 and 6.0 (Professional Edition)
• Screen (pixels):  320 x 240 or 640 x 480 (in compatibility mode) or 340 x 340 (square screeen)

Mobile connectivity – local (cradle, IR, BlueTooth …)

• Internet Information Server (IIS) v6 or above
• ActiveSync 4.5

• IIS v6 or above
• Wireless data plan (CDMA or GPRS or 3G)
• Broadband internet connection with fixed IP address*
• Port 80 not blocked (the only known instance of Port 80 being blocked is the Optus network).

Note: there is a known intermittent problem when using BlueTooth to communicate to the HP 460. This can be resolved by replacing the BlueTooth card. For more details, refer to www.fieldsoftware.com/HP460error.htm

Printers that have external adapters providing around 12 volts DC can usually be modified to run off vehicle power systems.
